Kirill Gluschenko was born in 1983 in Kaliningrad. In 2020, he received his master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (photography department, his professors were Peter Piller and Clemens von Wedemeyer). He previously graduated from the Institute of Contemporary Art, Moscow (2009), and began his master’s studies at the Valand Academy, Gotheborg, Sweden (2011).

His first solo show ‘Our Days Are Rich And Bright’ was held in 2016 in Moscow supported by the V–A–C foundation. The exhibition and was awarded the Innovation prize. ‘Venets’, his second project conceived together with V–A–C was displayed at the foundation’s Zattere venue was later nominated for the Kandinsky Prize (2019), won the Marion-Ermer Preis (2018), and was shown at the Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts (MdbK). The livre d’artiste of the same name commemorating this project was named among the best books of the year by Deutsche Architekturmuseum (2019), won the Grand Prix at the Zhar-Kniga Russian National Book Design Competition (2019), and was awarded with a special mentioning at the Stiftung Buchkunst’s ‘Best Book Design From All Over The World’ competition in Frankfurt (2020). In 2020, as part of the 2nd Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art, Kirill Gluschenko presented his ‘Moscow Lights’ project including a 23-minute feature film of the same name.

Krill received a scholarship from the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen, Germany (2018), and participated in Garage Studios’ yearlong program (2021). As part of the ‘Gluschenkoizdat’ project he published ‘1962. Nikolay Kozakov Diaries’ (ed. of 1000) and ‘Venets. Welcome to The Ideal’ (ed. of 500) books along with ‘Welcome to the Ideal’ newspaper novel (ed. of 2000), and produced a radio show in a form of a ‘1962’ double LP (ed. of 300). His works are part of the collections of Gazprombank, the V-A-C foundations and numerous private collections.
