“Stencils”, 2004

“The stencils are made from advertising pages of transparent magazines. Being applied to a corrugated cardboard, they represent a peculiar wrong side of a glamorous reality. The works were first presented at a group exhibition in the New Tretyakov Gallery in 2004. Several works from the series are presented in museum’s collection.”

“Frottages”, 2009-2010

“Galkina’s work titled ‘Frottages’ (2019-2010), continues to investigate the formal language of art; however, here the work also investigates the themes of memory and history. Frottage is a technique of rendering, on paper, the surface texture of an object by rubbing pencil over it. The artist’s work has, in a way, captured a piece of social reality, and a unique piece, very personal one, devoted to a memory of a specific person.”
